Vintage Japanese Hand-Shibori Silk Kimono Jacket - Red with Embroidered Florals

A richly textured vintage Japanese silk kimono jacket in crimson red, featuring intricate hand-worked shibori and embroidered floral detailing.

The kimono is covered with thousands of individually bound resist dots- creating that unmistakable raised, almost “spongy” texture only true shibori achieves. Large florals bloom across the back, with yellow stamen embroidery and layered dye work. The depth of labour in this piece is extraordinary.

 Fully lined in pale silk with pastel motifs. A wearable textile artwork.

 

Originally purchased as deadstock from Japan over a decade ago. Worn only a handful of times and carefully stored. Remains in beautiful condition.
