Late 1970s-Early 1980s Architectural Chartreuse Blouse
An exceptionally well-made vintage blouse in chartreuse green with a subtle lustre and sculptural silhouette. Though unsigned, the quality of both construction and design is immediately apparent, with thoughtful details that give the piece a designer feel.
The V-neckline is balanced by released pleats through the front and back, creating architectural lines without adding bulk. Structured shoulder tucks extend into voluminous sleeves, and buttoned cuffs with gathered ruffle trim add further detail. The rear is equally interesting with additional pleated detailing and a gently curved hem that creates a bustle effect.
The overall silhouette feels incredibly modern, reminding me of the experimental shapes and understated drama associated with Japanese and European designer fashion of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The chartreuse tone only enhances its contemporary appeal.
Made in a beautifully weighted stretch crepe with a slight sheen, allowing the piece to hold its sculptural shape while remaining easy to wear.
