Late 1930s-1940s Leather and Reptile Skin Frame Handbag

Sale price$125.00

Beautiful early frame handbag crafted from exceptionally soft dark brown leather with reptile skin side panels and gussets. This is exactly the bag I hunt for- one with soul.

The bag has a structured metal frame, leather handle, working metal zip pocket and original rayon lining. The leather has developed a rich patina over decades of use while remaining incredibly supple.

Found stuffed with newspaper dated March 1970, suggesting the bag remained in regular use long after it was made.

A wonderful example of a practical everyday handbag from the late 1930s or 1940s.
