Circa 1940s Cotton Day Dress with Raspberry Print- Professionally Restored

This exceptional late 1940s day dress was impossible to overlook. Entirely hand sewn to an extraordinarily high standard, it captures the elegance and craftsmanship of true post-war fashion while remaining remarkably modern in its wearability. The silhouette is soft yet structured, with a beautifully balanced skirt, sculpted waist and elegant cap sleeves that frame the body without feeling overly formal or costume-like.

The fabric remains astonishingly vibrant for its age, with rich raspberry swirling across a soft blush ground. Pieces of this era so often fade, weaken or lose their saturation over time, making the preservation of this textile especially notable. The matching belt also remains intact and in extraordinary condition, which is increasingly rare and makes a significant difference to the overall presentation of a garment from this period. The armpits and shoulders show no discolouration or fading whatsoever- a very rare occurrence for a garment of this age. Please see photographs 9 and 10 for close inspection. 

Professionally restored with immense care. Tiny age-related holes within the fabric were meticulously hand repaired to such a high standard that they are now extremely difficult to locate even under close inspection. I have been trying to photograph them for the listing but only found one- they are that well done.  Please refer to images 11 and 12. The dress presents beautifully and retains the integrity of the original construction.

The utmost care has been taken in restoring this piece. Small holes, purely due to the age of the fabric, were professionally and meticulously repaired by hand. These are remarkably undetectable, only visible on very close inspection. The dress presents beautifully and is completely ready for wear.
