1996 Red or Dead London Platform Boots

Original Red or Dead London platform boots from the 1996 collection.

These boots were worn extensively during the height of Red or Dead’s influence on British fashion by the owner who worked in the store at that time. In the 1990s, Red or Dead occupied a unique place in London’s style landscape, sitting somewhere between club culture, street fashion and independent design. Their footwear became instantly recognisable for its exaggerated proportions, playful silhouettes and refusal to follow conventional trends.

Unlike most surviving examples, these boots were not stored away. They were worn regularly in London during the period, through daily wear, long working weeks and countless nights out. They remain an authentic example of the era and are being offered as much for their cultural significance as their wearability.

Constructed in black suede with contrasting grey suede geometric side panels, platform soles and block heels.

The original branding and internal labels have worn away over time. The boots have been professionally re-soled during their life and remain structurally sound, although they show significant signs of wear consistent with age and heavy use.
