1990s Handcrafted Leather Patchwork Vest

A genuinely unusual piece that stands apart from the majority of vintage leather vests. While many patchwork designs lean heavily into western or bohemian styling, this piece has a far cleaner, classier and more refined approach. The geometric arrangement of the leather panels creates an amazing design that feels considered rather than decorative like most 70s vests I’ve seen, and I’ve seen plenty. 

Constructed from multiple panels of genuine leather, the workmanship throughout is truly exceptional. The leather selection, pattern matching and construction required a significant amount of skilled labour, resulting in a piece that is far more artisan craftsmanship than mass production. Unlabelled, but clearly made with care and attention to detail. I don’t often photograph the lining of pieces but this was so impeccably done that I couldn’t stop myself. 

The cut is streamlined and minimal, giving it a high end classiness that allows it to be worn with both vintage and modern styling. It is the sort of piece that attracts attention not through excess, but through quality, design and execution.
