1970s Hand Knitted Nordic Wool Cardigan With Leather Belt

Substantial hand knitted Nordic cardigan dating to the 1970s and one of the best of its kind I’ve seen. Crafted from heavyweight wool in a grey marl with contrasting cream and grey looped wool detailing to the collar, cuffs and hem. The generous shawl collar, cable knit panels and oversized proportions make this an exceptional piece.

The original belt was no longer present, so a custom genuine leather belt was commissioned specifically for the cardigan and will be included with the sale. The belt is removable and allows the cardigan to be worn either open or cinched at the waist.

The condition is truly outstanding for its age. The wool remains dense and lofty with no significant pilling, pulls or thinning. The looped wool trim is particularly impressive, retaining its original volume and softness throughout.
