Late 1940s Chocolate Brown Leather Handbag With Original 1963 Receipts Found Inside
Likely late 1940s to early 1950s handcrafted leather handbag, discovered untouched with 1963 receipts still inside from its last known use.
This piece has not been recreated, restored, or artificially aged. It has simply lived.
Inside the bag were original Western Australia receipts dated 1963- still folded and resting exactly where they were left, paused in time.
The leather is a deep chocolate brown - richer and darker in person than the photographs suggest. Think dark cocoa, not tan. The surface carries honest wear: fine creasing, soft scuffing, and patina that only decades can create. This is not a “perfect” bag. It is a soulful one.
Structurally it remains strong:
-Firm silhouette
-Clean interior suede
-Secure binding with no looseness
-Solid brass turn-lock closure
- Internal zip pocket intact
-The whipstitched edges are tight and original.
Condition
Beautiful vintage condition with expected wear consistent with age. Surface distressing to outer leather adds character and depth. Interior suede is soft, clean and intact.
